From the December 2006 Idaho Observer:

Ahmadinejad’s message to the American people: Follow your heavenly conscience, not your hellish leaders

Last May, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent an eloquent letter to President Bush. When the leader of the free world did not, or could not, honor the Iranian head-of-state with a response, the letter was posted to the web where millions of people worldwide had a chance to read it. In essence, Ahmadinejad extended an olive branch, appealing to his Christian conscience to avert war by seeking peace.

On Nov. 30, 2006, Ahmadinejad, who has already prepared his people for the U.S. attack, sent an open letter to the American people. In his letter he acknowledged that Americans are "God-fearing, truth-loving, justice-seeking people" while "the U.S. administration actively conceals the truth and impedes any objective portrayal of current realities"; and that "...if we did not share a common responsibility to promote and protect freedom and human dignity and integrity; then, there would have been little urgency to have a dialogue with [us]."

In the letter, Ahmadinejad condemns the U.S. alliance with Israeli Zionists who are committing a genocide against the Palestinian people that he is certain Americans do not condone. He condemns the Bush administration for leading America down a path of "injustice and trangression" that leads to "decline and demise."

He prays Americans will choose a higher path.
