From the August 2000 Idaho Observer:

Millennium Assembly to spark concerted national protest

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Citizens for Liberty Chairman Ben Hinkle, after learning of the Millennium Assembly scheduled to take place at UN headqarters in New York September 6-8, 2000, decided it was time to do something.

“The UN is about to announce its plans for global governance and it is time we protest this and get support for Ron Paul's bill HR 1146 to get us out of the UN,” Hinkle told The IO.

The IO recommended Hinkle get in touch with other organizations across the county who would be interested in staging a national protest of global governance.

What he found was that other patriots had been thinking the same thoughts. Tom DeWeese of the American Policy Center and Joe Larson of the Restoring America Committee have been mobilizing their contacts to support Paul's bill and protest the UN assembly which plans to adopt a new charter and step up its plans to destroy national sovereignty and dissolve international borders the week of Sept. 4, 2000.

The tentative plan is for people to demonstrate with signs in front of their congressmens' local offices. Demonstrators will show their support of HR 1146 all over the nation at noon local time Wed., Sept. 6. On Thurs., Sept 7, hopefully millions of people will be motivated to call their congressman through the congressional switchboard beginning at noon local time. “We plan to call a press conference on the 7th to inform people that this is not their father's UN,” DeWeese said.

This peaceful protest is not to be taken lightly and concerned Americans should participate. If Congress is to be stopped from handing us over to the UN, we will have to do it.

Plan on organizing several of your friends to peacefully assemble in front of your congressperson's local office with signs at noon your time Sept 6. Then call them in Washington, D.C. the following day at noon your time.
