From the September 2006 Idaho Observer:

True: Wars expanding • economy worsening • liberties diminishing • health failing • cultural chaos

Propaganda: Democracy spreading • economy improving • citizens safer • new drugs bring hope • diversity

Five years later

To read the mainstream press and watch network news coverage of 9/11’s five year anniversary, you would think that 19 boxcutter-wielding Arab al Qaeda terrorists brought down the Twin Towers, smashed into the Pentagon and crash landed in Shanksville, PA. To the corporate news, "five years later" was the president and first lady honoring those who lost their lives that tragic day, the president affirming his resolve to continue waging the war on terrorism and his ongoing commitment to keep Americans safe.

To preserve this image, the corporate media cannot mention WTC Building 7, which collapsed that same day without being hit by an airplane; the absence of evidence linking Osama bin Laden to Saddam Hussein or; the complete lack of justification for invading the sovereign nation of Iraq, ousting her leader and installing a puppet regime amenable to indefinite U.S. military occupation.

So busy promoting the 9/11 party line on the auspicious day of Sept. 11, 2006, the corporate media failed to highlight the fact that nearly half of Americans do not believe the 9/11 Commission adequately investigated 9/11 and half believe the government either allowed or caused of the Sept. 11 attacks.

If the corporate media had accurately described America five years later, what would have been in the spotlight?

* The 9/11 truth movement is growing very fast

* Faith in U.S. government policies is waning

* The level of national indebtedness is rising exponentially

* Global support for U.S. foreign policy is at an all time low

* The domestic surveillance state has come of age

* We have entered an age of perpetual war with no end in sight

  • The credit/interest-based economy is on the verge of collapse
